The heart behind lapa.care and GoldenPaws
Mufasa was our Maltese–Westie mix, with the most amazing little spirit. He shared our lives for seventeen and a half years, and loving him through his golden years changed ours.
As his dementia became severe and his arthritis progressed, caring for him meant learning how to recognise his comfort, notice the changes, and face decisions we wished we would never have to make.
At seventeen and a half, we made the toughest decision of our lives: to let him go at home, under the care of his palliative-care vet.
Our web address, lapa.care, holds a small piece of this. In Gaeilge — Irish — lapa means a paw: the soft pad of a foot that has walked beside us for years. Both lapa.care and GoldenPaws grew from our experience with Mufasa. We wanted to help other dog owners and families navigate the everyday care, the uncertainty, and the deeply tender moments that come with loving an older dog.
This is for him. And for everyone doing their best for a dog they love.
